Mevisio's data visualization platform was growing fast, but the UI was inconsistent and development was slow. Different parts of the platform looked and felt different, creating a confusing user experience. The development team was spending too much time recreating basic UI elements instead of focusing on data features.

As Lead Product Designer, I led the creation of Mevisio's first design system to solve these problems and set up the foundation for future growth.
Understanding the Problems
I started by doing a full audit of the existing platform to see where things were inconsistent. I also talked with developers to understand their biggest time-wasters and frustrations when building new features.
Research & Planning
I studied successful design systems from companies like Atlassian, IBM, and Material Design to understand best practices. I also looked at data visualization-specific needs that other systems might not cover.
Building the Foundation
Color system: Created a logical color palette that worked for both UI elements and data visualization
Typography: Set up clear text styles that improved readability in data-heavy interfaces
Component library: Built reusable UI components like buttons, forms, tables, and navigation
Working with Developers
I collaborated closely with the development team to make sure the design system actually made their work easier:

Brand Evolution
While building the system, I also worked on updating Mevisio's visual identity to feel more modern and trustworthy - important for a data platform where users need to feel confident in what they're seeing.
